This pathway is a one-year programme that will suit a student who are not quite ready for Level 3 study and need a little extra time to develop their academic and personal skills in preparation for their next step.
Some of us often require a little more time to develop our confidence and interpersonal skills before we reach higher. We understand that not everyone reaches the same level at the end of Y11. Our Flight Path Programme is designed to provide direction, growth and navigate those people on a flight path towards the following destinations:
Level 3 vocational courses
Intermediate/Advanced Level Apprenticeship
Employment with training
Traineeships
Our Flight Path Programme will enable you to study GCSE English and Maths as required, and undertake a Level 2 vocational course. We currently offer Level 2 BTEC Public Services.
Students also have the opportunity to develop their leadership, communication and team building skills though taking part in The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme and our internally led Professional Qualification of Leadership & Innovation (PQLI). This enables our students to develop the professional skills employers are seeking.
We also ensure students on this programme have access to high quality work experience opportunities.
Aside from gaining new skills and experience, a work placement provides you with a valuable insight into how a particular industry works and helps you decide if its the right one for you.
Our work placements could also give you the ability to expand your network of contacts within an industry, meaning you could gain positive references to use for future jobs, and other roles might become more obtainable.
